This standard covers many things, like Pro-D seminars, guest speakers and field trips! I’ve been very lucky as a TTUC in the district to have been to several Pro-D functions. Our experiences in class at UNBC however has probably been even more impactful.

In this program we have had many people come into our class to teach us about their specialty. Dr. Daniel Sims came in to facilitate our blanket exercise, leaving us all a mess. We had nurses come in to demonstrate how to give naloxone. We had a rep from ARC BC come in and tell us about all the ways we can have support in making our classes accessible for learners. We even had Dr. Tina Fraser bring in her daughter and nieces to show us all some Maori games and a Poi dance.

Being able to see all these folks show us their passion, culture, and expertise was amazing, and lent to a much deeper understanding of the lessons they came to teach us. Genuinely sharing information to further us as educators in a global setting.
